I started working at a little yarn and book shop last fall, as a way to make sure I have some financial independence. In December, we featured a different item that we carry on our website every day. This book was one of the items. The title caught my attention. How to do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy. Since being diagnosed with ADD a couple years ago, I've become much more aware of the ways my attention sticks and slips around different things. But I've also become aware of how very busy I tend to keep myself and my mind, and how much I tend to base my value of myself on what I can accomplish that lines up with conventional images of productivity.
