Clary is a pretty normal 16 year old, complete with an un-admitted half-crush on her somewhat dorky best friend. When she follows three beautiful strangers into the back of her favorite (and her best friend's least favorite) night club, she sees things that shouldn't exist. Hunting down answers, she learns that her mother has hidden a world of Demons and Angels from her since she was an infant. Over the course of a few days, Clary is immersed into this new reality and finds herself not only capable, but fitting in ways she could never have anticipated.

In City of Bones, Cassandra Clare introduces us to a world of Angels and Demons living their lives beneath our noses. Her plots are complex and her characters have good depth. Unfortunately, the romance story lines just don't work for me, and they're too big a piece of the books for me to carry on with the series.
